Day 7

Updated: Oct 16, 2022

TRIP

We had a little Pinto station wagon when I was growing up. Yes, the kind that tends to blow up when rear-ended. Ours never did.

One August in the early 70's my mom and dad packed up our family plus my cousin Pam and we headed out to Big Bend National Park for vacation. I was one of those kids that grew up in the relatively flat lands and always wanted to walk up to the top of any hill we passed when we traveled. Big Bend was no exception.

I also wanted to stop and cool off at every single stream we came to. In this drawing I let myself imagine what the trip would have looked like if I'd been in charge. I'd hike to the top of anything I wanted and would cool off in a stream afterwards.

By the way, I did thoroughly get the lesson from Day 3 and 4. Cool your jets, Calhoun! Day 5, 6, and 7 are all from one opened out sketchbook page rather than big drawings on single pages. Not everything has to be a 4'x8' masterpiece, Cat.
