Road Crew

When we saw this work being done my friends and I wondered why the hell they do these repairs by hand instead of using heavy equipment and discussed how much faster things would go if they would.

Months later I have learned why every road crew in San Miguel de Allende seemed to do this the long, hard way. It has to do with San Miguel's UNESCO designation as a world heritage site. This is a lovely title to have but means that construction has to take place using the old methods and materials. So now you know. We're not backward, just historically accurate.
