Icy puddles

Depressions in the limestone bed of McKinney Falls waterways filled with sleet and ice during a winter storm, slowly thawing over a couple of days' time.
Photography trivia: the red and green light splotches you see above are called lens flares. That just happens when light hits a camera lens at certain angles. Some photographers think these are in poor form, but I kind of like them and think they are fun, so I kept the camera at that angle and shot anyway. The starburst pattern you see where the sun hits the water in this shot is called a sun flare or (fittingly enough) a starburst. Photographers like these and we try to create them on purpose for dramatic effect.
