Ice in Texas

We had a serious ice storm when we lived in Dripping Springs. Those storms make things difficult when you live in the city. When you live out in the country you lose power for a couple of days! Thank god we had a gas stove so we could isolate and heat the kitchen!

And (for those of you who like me don't see winter that often) that's what happens when it drizzles all night long and the temperatures are below freezing. This is also why we lost power. Power lines in Texas will break and crack under this kind of weight. We think we are the heartiest folk in the world, but winter kicks our collective asses.

See where that truck has slid off the road? That's where our mailbox should be. We replaced it several times, but it was hit every ice storm. We finally gave up and got a PO Box.

And in the end, it doesn't matter what the thermometer reads. When the dogs gotta go, they gotta go!
