Once per year for Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) the beautiful parish church in San Miguel opens up the catacombs below the altar so visitors can tour them.

The crypts below the Parrochia are filled with important people like Anustasio Bustamante, president of Mexico on three separate occasions, kicked out and exiled to Europe twice before he finally died and was laid to rest here. Other "residents" of the crypts are former higher-ups in the church and the financially generous upper crust.
